Former Kaizer Chiefs trialist, Ayabulela Konqobe, has started training with a new Absa Premiership side as he looks to secure his return to professional football.
Konqobe, who is approaching his 23rd birthday, hasn’t played since his exit from Chippa United earlier this year, with his last competitive fixture coming in April as the Chilli Boys were beaten 2-0 by Mamelodi Sundowns.
The defender did have a spell training with the Glamour Boys as he looked to land a contract at Naturena, however, nothing materialised from the move and he went on to be linked with a switch to Black Leopards.
Now, with the mid-season break looming, the Siya crew have been informed that the former Ajax Cape Town youngster has started training with Highlands Park in a bid to return to the Premier Soccer League.
Gerald Baloyi, of Vodia Players Management And Marketing, confirmed the news to the crew, explaining that Konqobe had been given some time to try and impress Owen da Gama as he seeks to secure himself a deal with the Lions of the North.
It remains to be seen how long Konqobe will be given to leave a mark on Da Gama and his technical team, although his status as a free agent means that the club is in no rush to make a decision.
