Defender Ayabulela Konqobe is assessing his options following his recent trial with Kaizer Chiefs. As reported by the Siya crew, the centre-back parted ways with Chippa United, following his unsuccessful contractual negotiations with the Port Elizabeth outfit.
The 22-year-old had been looking for a move to Chiefs after being handed a trial with the club recently. However, the former South African youth international is no longer at Chiefs, as earlier reported by the Siya crew.
“Ayabulela Konqobe currently doesn’t have a team after he parted ways with Chippa United. He tried his luck with Chiefs but things didn’t work out well for him there. We are still searching for a team for him. We are still in talks with another team for him,” one source told the Siya crew.
Another source confirmed to the Siya crew that the player is still in Gauteng and waiting for feedback from Chiefs, while also working on a potential deal with another club.
“The boy is in Pretoria. He is training on his own at the moment. The player’s camp is waiting on Chiefs regarding his trial. But it’s not like Chiefs is the only option as there is another club that is also keen on the player. There is no rush as the boy has options,” added the source.
