After Kaizer Chiefs’ Sizwe Twala became the latest Absa Premiership player to make a move yesterday, the Siya crew has been informed of another Premier Soccer League deal that’s in the works…
Twala joined Swallows FC on Tuesday as he completed a move from Amakhosi in order to achieve some more game-time as he approaches his 23rd birthday, and now there’s set to be another player making the switch from the South African top-flight into the GladAfrica Championship.
According to Siya sources, Maritzburg United’s Deolin Mekoa has been spotted at Ajax Cape Town where he is thought to be undergoing a medical, with the 26-year-old likely to finalise a loan move to the Urban Warriors this week.
Ajax are currently chasing promotion back into the Absa Premiership following relegation a couple of seasons ago, and are on track at present having recently gone three points clear at the top of the second-tier table.
Mekoa has fallen down the pecking order in Pietermaritzburg this season after several successful campaigns at the club, playing just three league games so far, and the expected loan move to the Mother City will give him the chance to get playing regularly again.
If finalised in time, the midfielder could make his Ajax debut this weekend against Free State Stars as the Cape Town-based league leaders look to extend their points tally further.
