Sundowns Defender's Injury Puts End To His Season?
Anele Ngcongca Picks Up Season-Ending Injury
Anele Ngcongca may have played his last game of the season for Mamelodi Sundowns yesterday, this after being linked with a move back to Europe.
The 30-year-old defender was recently quoted in local media saying that a club in Belgium has been in contact with him about possibly luring him back to Europe.
However, with Ngcongca still contracted to Sundowns, any formal talks about a possible transfer elsewhere can only take place once the July/August transfer window opens in the coming weeks.
On the other hand, the right back may have played his last game of the season for Sundowns yesterday during their 3-1 loss to Maritzburg United in the Nedbank Cup.
It was confirmed during the game that the defender suffered a fracture to his ankle, which possibly put an end to his season.
The player has been very unlucky with injuries during his time with the Brazilians, with his first injury coming during a training session just days after he signed for the Chloorkop-based club in August 2016.
Now, it remains to be seen how long Ngcongca will be out for and whether a move away from Sundowns will be on the cards for the player in the July/August transfer window.
