Jali Update: Downs Lead, Chiefs Negotiating, Bucs Not Completely Out

Andile Jali Update: Sundowns, Chiefs, Pirates

By Soccer Laduma - May 25, 2018 12:29 PM

Andile Jali is close to concluding his new professional contract, and while all of the Big Three are still in the mix, Mamelodi Sundowns are leading the race.

Jali has returned to Mzansi following a four-year spell in Belgium with KV Oostende and is now poised to sign a PSL contract. The Siya crew revealed last year that the former Orlando Pirates player was expected back in the PSL and while it was denied at the time, Jali is now expected to put pen to paper.

Siya sources have indicated that Downs are leading the race for his signature, and are favourites to land him, however, Chiefs have not given up just yet. According to Siya sources, Sundowns have engaged with the player’s camp and are believed to have come to a mutual agreement on the player’s financial demands.

However, Jali is yet to put pen to paper and the sources have stated that Chiefs are still negotiating. Amakhosi are keen on adding the player to their roster, with the 28-year-old seen as a marquee signing, which they can rebuild their team around. In addition, Jali is a player that will appease the fans, with the Chiefs faithful expecting a big name signing following three consecutive barren seasons.

Bucs are not completely out of the picture, though sources have stated that the club is not willing to meet Jali’s financial demands at this point in time. As previously reported, Jali is looking to cash in on R8 million per annum, including the signing-on fee and bonuses, which would make him the highest earner in the PSL.

The player’s camp is expected to make a decision by next week, with negotiations expected to be concluded this weekend.

From where am sitting ,Mike Makaab is looking for the highest bidder.Last week on Thursday,he said in 48hrs the deal will be sealed, we are on Wednesday and Andile is still clubless. If there will be a third bidder higher than Downs and Chiefs,we will wait forever for another highest bidder, then all this song will subside.Because the highest will take Andile.,as things stand,Chiefs and Downs are on equal amount. My view......

@Gustin Sirino Being successful and being rich can be categorised as being pretty much the same thing fam, They are a subjective issue bcos Motsepe can say he's broke with 10 million in his bank account and you can see yourself as being successful with 10 million in ur pockets. Get it?

I don't know why we are all talking about money earned by these football players. Who is sure that the guys are getting that money. First Khune was said to be on over 600 000 now is 480 000. Does that make sense. If Jali wants to join Chiefs or platinum stars it is up to him let him go. We at pirates are united and the chairman must not bring us someone who will disturb the moral of the club. Even this story of kuzwayo. We have better keepers and why we need to get a keeper not a defender. Get us two strong center backs only. One strong defending middle fielder.

Should he join Sundowns, it will be a similar case with the case of Benedict Vilakazi up to the end of the story.
