Andile Jali is close to concluding his new professional contract, and while all of the Big Three are still in the mix, Mamelodi Sundowns are leading the race.
Jali has returned to Mzansi following a four-year spell in Belgium with KV Oostende and is now poised to sign a PSL contract. The Siya crew revealed last year that the former Orlando Pirates player was expected back in the PSL and while it was denied at the time, Jali is now expected to put pen to paper.
Siya sources have indicated that Downs are leading the race for his signature, and are favourites to land him, however, Chiefs have not given up just yet. According to Siya sources, Sundowns have engaged with the player’s camp and are believed to have come to a mutual agreement on the player’s financial demands.
However, Jali is yet to put pen to paper and the sources have stated that Chiefs are still negotiating. Amakhosi are keen on adding the player to their roster, with the 28-year-old seen as a marquee signing, which they can rebuild their team around. In addition, Jali is a player that will appease the fans, with the Chiefs faithful expecting a big name signing following three consecutive barren seasons.
Bucs are not completely out of the picture, though sources have stated that the club is not willing to meet Jali’s financial demands at this point in time. As previously reported, Jali is looking to cash in on R8 million per annum, including the signing-on fee and bonuses, which would make him the highest earner in the PSL.
The player’s camp is expected to make a decision by next week, with negotiations expected to be concluded this weekend.
