Cape Town City chairman John Comitis has confirmed that AmaZulu have a few more hours to trigger the buyout release clause in Zukile Kewuti’s contract.
Usuthu coach Benni McCarthy recently spoke about how much he is interested in signing the hard-working player but warned that they would not be held to ransom by the Citizens.
Kewuti joined AmaZulu on loan after struggling for game-time at City in the first half of the season and has done well during the times he has been given an opportunity to play.
According to Comitis, the deal was that Usuthu would need to trigger the release clause in Kewuti’s contract by May 1.
“Benni needs to ask management to explain to him how the deal was structured, because there is a buyout clause in the contract that they can execute. It’s in their hands they’ve got until May 1 to take it,” Comitis tells the Siya crew.
“It’s in their hands, not in my hands. And it’s a very reasonable amount.”
