It would seem that Talent Chawapiwa's performance in AmaZulu's win over Kaizer Chiefs has attracted interest from other clubs.
In what was arguably the biggest win for Usuthu this season, Chawapiwa provided an assist for the team’s top goal-scorer Bonginkosi Ntuli’s goal in their 1-0 win as they shocked the log leaders in front of their supporters at FNB Stadium.
Before making a move to the Durban-based side in January last year, the talented Zimbabwean had been strongly linked with a move to Naturena.
While reluctant to reveal the names of potential suitors for the 28-year-old, his representative Michael Ngobeni from M Sport Management confirmed that interest has been revived in the former Baroka star.
“Before the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been interest in the player from clubs locally who called to enquire about his availability,” he said.
“But I won’t be able to give you the names of clubs as the player has a contract with AmaZulu. He is still under contract and not an option. An interested club has to call AmaZulu. The player is tied. But AmaZulu would open the door for him if something concrete comes,” the representative added.
“He had a great game against Chiefs before the break. He assisted for the goal. I was bombarded with phone calls the following day,” Ngobeni told the Siya crew.
Chawapiwa’s contract at AmaZulu runs to at least June 2022.
