A return to Gauteng could be on the cards for Bloemfontein Celtic defender Wandisile Letlabika in his next deal.
The experienced defender has come to the end of his deal with Celtic, and it has emerged that a few clubs in the league are keen on his services after learning about his contract situation.
News reaching the Siya crew is that Swallows FC are making attempts to land the player’s signature as part of the plans to reinforce the squad for their first season in the top-flight after promotion.
“Swallows are interested in Wandisile Letlabika and attempts are being made to sign the player,” said the source.
As reported in edition 1192 of Soccer Laduma, Letlabika’s name has come up as a possible addition to the Mamelodi Sundowns squad as Pitso Mosimane is looking to add cover to his central defence, however, the source believes that Swallows are the team that could win the centre-back’s services.
“The player met with the club (Swallows) yesterday (Wednesday) for initial talks, and from what was discussed there is a possibility of them agreeing on a deal. But the player will be assessing his options before making a decision,” the source added.
Letlabika has just completed his seventh season at Celtic where he helped the team secure a Top Eight finish and qualify for the CAF Confederation Cup after reaching the Nedbank Cup final, and while the Mangaung club has been eager to extend his stay, it seems the player’s mind has already been made up about leaving after failing to agree on new terms with the club that he has been with since 2013.
