One of Kaizer Chiefs’ midfielders could face a lengthy spell on the sidelines due to injuries sustained in a car accident.
As confirmed by Chiefs last week, Wiseman Meyiwa, who was involved in a car accident, has, after weeks, finally come out of the Intensive Care Unit, while doctors continue to assess his progress.
However, according to Siya sources, Meyiwa’s injuries that he sustained in the motor vehicle accident could have a long-term effect on his professional football career, although doctors will continue to monitor the player.
Despite the 18-year-old’s injuries sustained in the car accident, there have been several players in the history of the Premier Soccer League, who have suffered career-threatening injuries.
An example of which and most recently, is Rivaldo Coetzee. The Bafana Bafana international sustained an injury to his foot which puts the player at risk of possibly not being able to play again. However, after being sidelined for up to a year, Coetzee has been turning out for Mamelodi Sundowns’ MutliChoice Diski Challenge, with indications that he may be recovering from his horror injury.
The extent of Meyiwa’s injuries is still unknown and it remains to be seen for how long the player is expected to be out of action.
