Pitso Mosimane has recently pointed out that his Mamelodi Sundowns dressing room has resembled a hospital ward lately, with several of his key players in and out of the medical room in between crucial games.
There is no doubt ‘Jingles’ will welcome the current Fifa break as the Brazilians have enjoyed a recess since last week Wednesday and only return to action next weekend in the Telkom Knockout Cup.
But Downs do have a high-profile friendly match against Kaizer Chiefs in the Shell Helix Ultra Cup on Saturday afternoon, and it is there that Mosimane will give a chance to several of his fringe players – among them Lucky Mohomi, Oupa Manyisa and maybe even Tokelo Rantie, who joined the club last month.

Reyaad Pieterse is another player that is itching to get his opportunity between the sticks having tried to secure a move away prior to the start of the season, but has since remained at Chloorkop with the hope that he would get a look in.
Andile Jali has recently had his breakthrough thanks to niggling injuries to Tiyani Mabunda and Rivaldo Coetzee, though Mosimane also praised the midfielder for his work ethic as well as fitness and argued he deserved to play.
Phakamani Mahlambi loses out on impressing the coach at close range following his call-up to the U23 team, but game-time on international duty will boost his confidence.
Others hoping to for some minutes against Chiefs and more training sessions during the Fifa break are Soumahoro Bangaly, Emiliano Tade, Anthony Laffor (both recovering from injury) and the forgotten man – Aubrey Ngoma!
