Wits Aiming To Finish Off In Style

It is now a matter of months before Bidvest Wits as a football team will cease to exist, but before then, a highly rated midfielder reckons that the Braamfontein outfit still have a lot to play for.

With a Nedbank Cup semi-final against Mamelodi Sundowns and nine Absa Premiership fixtures remaining, it is hard to count the Clever Boys out just yet.

Gavin Hunt’s men have been hard at work in preparation for the resumption of the PSL following a four-month COVID-19 enforced hiatus.

Kgaogelo Sekgota has been a revelation for Wits since joining them from Portuguese outfit Vitoria Setubal in January. The 23-year-old has given Hunt a different dynamic in the wide areas, being able to effortlessly switch between flanks during matches.

The highly rated winger has opened upon the club’s ambitions in the remaining fixtures of the 2019/20 campaign, and says that the team still have a lot to play for.

“It is good to be back after a long time, football is something that we love and live for so this is a great feeling.

“It is all about the dedication that you have, your goals in life. You have to stay strong. Challenges come and go, you just need to be mentally strong and remain focussed. We are in the Nedbank Cup semi-finals and we still have a few league games left so there is still a lot to play for.

“Obviously we are a big team with a good coach that has a lot of experience. We have a squad full of national team players so we will remain competitive and professional up until the end of the season,” Sekgota said speaking to Wits’ official website.
