Black Leopards midfielder, Thabiso Mokoena, has made his way onto Kaizer Chiefs’ list of potential targets, but their transfer ban will dictate whether a move can happen yet…
The 27-year-old Lidoda Duvha man has played 19 times in all competitions so far in the 2019/20 season, with some of his performances seemingly catching the eye of the Glamour Boys management.
As reported in this week’s issue of Soccer Laduma, Mokoena has one more year left on his contract in Thohoyandou with Lidoda Duvha, with his current deal expiring in June 2021, meaning that he will be a free agent in just over a years’ time.
Chiefs currently have a two-window transfer ban that was handed out by FIFA over the signing of Andriamirado ‘Dax’ Andrianarimanana back in 2018, so may have no choice but to wait for the end of next season before they can sign anybody should their ban not be lifted.
If the ban is lifted then maybe the Amakhosi bosses could make a move for the Leopards man in either of the next windows, but a willingness to sell may depend on whether Mokoena helps his side retain their place in the Absa Premiership.
Do you think Chiefs should earmark Mokoena as a signing even if it means waiting until 2021?
