Golden Arrows boss Mato Madlala has received special praise from a former Premier Soccer League striker for believing in local talent.
Abafana Bes'thende have had a very good DStv Premiership season which has seen the side compete in the top four on the standings.
Former Orlando Pirates striker and analyst Phumudzo Manenzhe says he expected this from the club.
"I'm not surprised, I'm a football person and I've been in football for more than 15 years, Lamontville Golden Arrows is one team in the PSL that produces new players season in, season out," Manenzhe said, addressing the media in Durban.
"I remember seeing the likes of Nkosinathi Sibisi in the MDC, Sfiso Mlungwana and others who are now household names in the PSL. Those are players who have been at Arrows development and I'm not surprised by their good season."
Manenzhe says the success of the club shows how much the club boss believes in local talent and gives praise to Mato Madlala for trusting local coaches Mandla Ncikazi and Mabhuti Khenyeza.
"Also the fact that they are giving back to their own, I need to give credit to the chairlady Mato Madlala, for her to give cosch Mandla Ncikazi and Mabhuti Khenyeza an opportunity like this. These are KZN people who know the culture of KZN and that's why they are able to use the youngsters that are coming up to do well in the DStv Premiership."
