AmaZulu FC have explained the reason behind not getting their top target Facundo Juarez this transfer window.
Usuthu coach Benni McCarthy has been monitoring the Argentine star, as previously reported by Siiya crew and was hoping to secure the player during the January transfer window.
"That was my desired player, the player I thought holds the keys to this team. If we want to be a great team, not only just a team that is contending for anything but if we want to be a team that really pushes it, I think that player holds that key," McCarthy told the media.
"With football intelligence, what it means to be a playmaker and goalscorer, so everything in his locker, Sundowns is probably the only team that possess those type of players... Gastino Sirino and Themba Zwane.
"On the ball he can do anything and in upfront he can give you goals. He can create for a striker and that a player we identified, but unfortunately hit a brick wall."
The club's president Sandile Zungu explains why they couldn't get the player.
"He is not coming, we don't have a foreign slot. Remember, we have already five players that are performing well and we can't really let go.
"'So we can't be having another foreigner, even in the PSL we wanted a left back from another country but we can't get him because of our foreign slots are full."
Zungu says there was a hiccup in the deal, which could not have been predicted.
"We had made an offer to his team and he was coming at the beginning of this season but his team wanted money to release him and we decided we can't do that. So in December we found out that he was injured, we had to be wiser and not continue with him because what if his injury was longer.
"Most foreign players don't want short contracts, they don't want to come here for that and if we want to be the number one team, we need to be wiser in transfers."
