He is not expected to make his Kaizer Chiefs debut for another few weeks, but Anthony Akumu might have made a bit of an impression on one of his teammates.
The Kenyan is the club’s only January signing so far and the Siya crew reported yesterday that it is thought Akumu is carrying a niggling injury and is not in line to make his Amakhosi debut just yet – though striker Samir Nurkovic says the midfielder is adjusting well.

Nurkovic, himself a new player in the Chiefs set up having arrived at the beginning of the season and immediately taking the PSL by storm with his scoring prowess, did admit, however, that it was too early to put pressure on Akumu.
“Obviously so far there has only been one player, and that is our Kenyan player Anthony. He is training well and trying to be ready for the game (his debut) and then we will see. I think it is then that we can talk,” Nurkovic said when asked whether the new man can adapt as quickly as he and Kearyn Baccus did when they joined the Glamour Boys.
Chiefs face Golden Arrows in Durban this afternoon and will look to Nurkovic to continue his scoring form as they try remain top of the Absa Premiership table.
