Tokelo Rantie’s proposed move to Genclerbirligi in Turkey may be on the rocks, with the Siya crew being informed that there have been issues with the transfer.
The Siya crew reported yesterday that the 25-year-old had touched down in Turkey to undergo a medical with Stuart Baxter’s former side ahead of a proposed move away from AFC Bournemouth, as he sought to bring to an end a difficult spell in England.
However, the latest news reaching the crew is that Rantie’s transfer may be called off due to unknown difficulties regarding the move, and that it is currently on the rocks.
Attempts to reach the player, as well as both Bournemouth and Genclerbirligi, have all been unsuccessful so far, however it does appear that, while the move is not off, there has been a stumbling block that could jeopardise it.
The Siya crew will continue to monitor the situation over the coming days, however, the Bafana Bafana international is due back in South Africa shortly to join up with his teammates ahead of next week’s African Cup of Nations qualifier against Mauritania, and the transfer window closes on Tuesday.
Rantie has been linked with another Turkish club, Adanaspor, in the past, and they could possibly be an option for him if the Genclerbirligi deal does fall through.
