Thulani Serero’s Ajax Amsterdam and Steven Pienaar's Everton have avoided the big guns in the Round of 16 of the Europa League.
Ajax, who advanced through the last 32 by beating Legia Warsaw 4-0 on aggregate, will now face Dnipro Dniperpetrovsk (Ukraine).
The Dutch champions entered the Europa League in the last 32 after dropping out of the Champions League.
But Serero, who put in a classy shift in the 3-0 return-leg win over Warsaw on Thursday, is not the only South African left in the competition.
Steven Pienaar’s Everton have also progressed to the last 16 and will now face Dynamo Kiev.
The Toffees are the only English side left in competition after beating Young Boys 7-2 on aggregate.
Both, Ajax and Everton, have avoided the real big guns left in the competitions - the likes of Inter, Wolfsburg, Sevilla and Roma.
The winner of this year's Europe League automatically qualify for next year's Champions League.
