Ajax Lower Serero’s Price To R8m
Ajax Amsterdam have lowered their asking price for Thulani Serero to only €500,000 as they look to try and offload him before the transfer window shuts.
The 26-year-old has dropped down the pecking order in Holland of late, and was informed earlier this year that he was not part of the club’s plans going forward, and would not be allocated a jersey number.
Now, with one year left on his contract, Telegraaf are reporting that Ajax have decided to lower the price tag on his head to only R8m in an attempt to attract more interest for the out-of-favour Bafana Bafana international.
While the lowered asking price may increase interest in Serero, his wages of €395,000 (R6m) per year could prove to be a stumbling block – especially for a return to South Africa – going forward.
With the transfer window set to close tonight, Ajax have less than 24 hours to organise a move for the midfielder or face the prospect of keeping a foreign player on their wage bill, whom they have no intention of using.
