After eight years in Holland, Thulani Serero could be on the move as reports surface regarding a potential R17 million move away from Vitesse Arnhem.
The 29-year-old midfielder, who recently returned from the African Cup of Nations with Bafana Bafana, could be set to make a move to Al Jazira Club in the United Arab Emirates, with De Telegraaf in the Netherlands reporting that they’re keen to make a move happen.
According to the Dutch website, they’re prepared to pay €1 million for the former Ajax Cape Town man, though it remains to be seen whether a deal will get done given his importance to Vitesse.
‘Cream’ has been almost ever-present for his current club since he joined them from Ajax Amsterdam, but Al Jazira are thought to be eager to get him on board ahead of their Arab Champions League tie with Al-Nasr next month.
Serero was questioned about the potential switch on Dutch television after he played the full 90 minutes of their 2-0 victory over Willem II, though he said he didn’t know anything and was still a Vitesse player.
When asked about his future, the Bafana man said, "I’m still here, I’m still a Vitesse player, so my focus is still here… All my focus is on Vitesse, I showed it today, played the game and I can’t comment on some things."
Fans of the club will now be waiting anxiously to see whether their star midfield man has played his last game for the club, or whether he will be in the squad once again on Friday night against PEC Zwolle.
