The 25-year-old has done increasingly well for the French club since his move to Ligue 1 last year, however his 2018 has been abruptly brought to an end after a knee injury earlier this month saw him ruled out for several months.
Zungu, however, seems to be in good spirits, and the Siya crew has been informed that a date has been set to get discussions underway regarding a new, improved contract with his current employers.
Though he wouldn’t discuss his contract situation, speaking in this week’s issue of Soccer Laduma, Zungu said, “It’s good because my knee has responded well in the recent weeks, so I’m going for the surgery earlier than expected. I can walk normally with it; I just have to be careful with what I eat to help my recovery.
“I think this injury is not as big as the one that I got when I was at Sundowns, so the experience that I had while recovering from that injury will help me with this one.”
Zungu, who will miss three big games for Bafana, is facing at least four months out as he recuperates, and will be back around January/February at the earliest.
