‘Yaya’ After Euro Move: More Is Still To Come!
Sphephelo Sithole Says There's More To Come In Europe
Teenage South African midfielder, Sphephelo ‘Yaya’ Sithole, says that there is more to come from him now that he has finalised a move to Sporting Clube de Portugal.
It was confirmed earlier today that the 18-year-old had succeeded during his trial spell with the Portuguese giants, and had signed for the Portuguese club ahead of the new season.
Speaking to the Siya crew after the move was completed, the South African youth international spoke of his excitement, thanking those that had helped him get there.
He said, “I feel so good because for me coming this side it wasn't easy. But because of my effort and hard work and – most of all – believing in myself, I think that helped me conquer every circumstance that I faced this side...
“I need to thank all the people that were looking after me like Prosport, the KZN Aacademy technical team, the likes of Carlos Catalino, Madam Gugu Marawa and Jorge Prazeres, because without them I wasn't going to get the chance to come this far... What I can say is that this is just a stepping stone for me… A lot more is still to come.”
Meanwhile Michael Makaab Jnr, of Prosport International, said, "We at Prosport are very proud of the boy. He now has the stage to catapult his career forward, and we are excited to see how his future develops."
Catalino, the Managing Director of the academy, is over the moon, telling the Siya crew, “It's another great opportunity for one of our youngsters to kick start their career in Europe. It's also affirmation for us as an academy that we are doing something right, and above all affording these kids with an opportunity to realise their dreams.
“Yaya is a great talent and we have no doubt he can go all the way, we are extremely proud of him.”
Sithole was spotted by Sporting during the Durban U19 tournament last year.
