Domingo Promoted As His Star Rises In Portugal
South African Youngster, Haashim Domingo, Is Progressing In Portugal
Haashim Domingo’s reputation in Portugal is growing, with the young attacker being promoted into the Vitoria de Guimaraes first team following a number of impressive performances in their B side.
The 22-year-old from Cape Town has played 20 games for Guimaraes B this season, scoring twice in the last few months, and his showings in the Segunda Liga have attracted the attention of the first team head coach, Vítor Campelos.
Domingo was recently asked to train with the first team as a reward for his efforts, and over the weekend he made the Guimaraes matchday squad for the first time as they took on Maritimo in the Primeira Liga on Saturday evening.
Now, with the club not in fear of relegation nor pushing for promotion, the former South African youth international will be eager to try and push for his senior Guimaraes debut in the coming weeks.
The attacking midfielder has directly contributed to six goals so far this season, with only five players having played more games than him in the current campaign.
Guimaraes’ next game sees them take on Belenenses on Sunday, and Domingo will be hoping to take one step closer to making his first appearance in the Primeira Liga.
