Ayanda Patosi started in Lokeren’s 5-1 drubbing by Club Brugge in the Belgium Pro League Play-offs I on Friday night. The South African played on the left side of midfield but was unable to influence the game and was substituted in the 70th minute.
Fullback Anele Ngcongca started in Genk’s 3-0 loss to Zulte-Waregem in the Play-offs I at the Cristal Arena on Saturday. Ngcongca played the full 90 minutes but his team had no answer to their guests and were outplayed on their home turf.
Andile Jali started and played the full 90 minutes as his KV Oostende edged out Gent 1-0 at the Ghelamco Arena in the Belgian League Play-offs II. The South African’s midfield partner; Cameroonian Sébastien Siani scored the game’s only goal in the 6th minute of play, which was enough to give Oostende an away victory.
Also in the Play-offs II, goalkeeper Darren Keet kept a clean sheet in Kortrijk’s impressive 4-0 home win over Cercle Brugge on Saturday. The shot-stopper was hardly called into action as his side dominated from the first whistle and had a comfortable evening between the posts.
South African forward Daylon Claasen was brought on in the closing stages of Lech Poznań’s narrow 1-0 defeat at the hands of Polish League leaders Legia Warszawa on Saturday. Claasen was called into action in the 81st minute but he was unable to grab second placed Poznań an equaliser.
Bafana Bafana midfielder Dean Furman came off the bench in the 71st minute to help his Doncaster Rovers side to a 2-1 win over Leeds United at Elland Road on Saturday.
Bafana striker Tokelo Rantie was named on the bench for Bournemouth and was an unused substitute as his side beat comfortably beat Birmingham City 4-2 at St Andrews.
