Pienaar's Sunderland Remains Winless

Steven Pienaar made his second start for Sunderland in their 1-1 draw with Southampton on Saturday afternoon.

The former Bafana Bafana captain was on the bench in the 2-1 loss to Middlesbrough last weekend, but was deployed in the middle of the park against the Saints on Saturday.

Pienaar lasted 67 minutes and picked up a yellow card, before being replaced by Jermaine Lens for the final 20 minutes.

David Moyes' charges took the lead through Jermaine Defoe's penalty, but had to settle for a point when Jay Rodriguez equalised in the 85th minute.

Pienaar has now made three appearances since joining the Black Cats, which also includes a start in the League Cup.
