Thulani Serero’s Ajax Amsterdam overcame the disappointment of losing in the Dutch Cup final last week to pick up their fourth consecutive Dutch League title on Sunday thanks to a 1-1 draw against SC Heracles Almelo at the Polman Stadion.
The result means that Ajax cannot be caught at the top of the table with the South African midfielder playing the full 90 minutes in their championship winning tie. Lasse Schöne opened the scoring for Ajax before Simon Cziommer equalised for the home side to make it 1-1 and hand Frank De Boer’s men the title.
Defensive midfielder Kamohelo Mokotjo played from the start in PEC Zwolle’s 2-1 loss against PSV Eindhoven. The South African lasted the full game but could not help his team earn a point.
Former Orlando Pirates player Mark Mayambela was an unused substitute as Djurgården beat Brommapojkarna 3-2 at the Tele2 Arena in Stockholm on Sunday. Aleksandar Prijović scored an 83rd minute goal to earn the hosts all three points.
