There was some sad news for Siyanda Xulu this week after it was announced that his side, FC Rostov, may not be playing in next year’s UEFA Europa League.
Rostov, who qualified for the competition following their Russian Cup final win over Krasnodar last month, have apparently been told that they will not be granted a licence for the tournament after breaching domestic licensing rules.
According to reports, the breach relates to unpaid wages from last year, a matter that has since been resolved.
Rostov did attempt to appeal the decision in order to secure their place in the Europa League, though it seems that Russian giants, Spartak Moscow, will be taking their place.
The news will come as a massive blow to Bafana Bafana international, Xulu, who will no doubt have been looking forward to pitting himself against some of the best players in the world next season.
