Siphiwe ‘Shabba’ Tshabalala is seeking another overseas move in his next deal, following his return from Turkey.
Having signed a two-year deal with Turkish club BB Erzurumspor after leaving Chiefs last year, Tshabalala’s stay with the club was short-lived as he returned to Mzansi early, following the team’s relegation from the country’s top tier.
The veteran winger was forced to cut his stay with the club short, after he was asked to take a salary cut when the team was relegated from the Turkish Super Lig at the end of the season, after just one year for him with the side.
As reported in edition 1137 of Soccer Laduma, the former Chiefs and Bafana Bafana star is keen on a move back overseas, with the 34-year-old's handlers currently in talks with an unnamed club in Azerbaijan during the July/August transfer window.
“It’s true that Jazzman has been talking to a club in Azerbaijan about Shabba, but it’s not the same club that Pule Ekstein is playing for. The country is correct – it’s Azerbaijan, but a different club,” confirmed a reliable source.
Ekstein, who is Tshabalala’s former Chiefs teammate, is plying his trade this season with Sabah FK in Azerbaijan.
