Bafana Legend’s Son Joins Newcastle

The son of Bafana Bafana legend, Shaun Bartlett, has joined Newcastle United’s academy, featuring for their U23s in a friendly encounter this week.
Tyrique Bartlett, 17, was a second half substitute for the Toon Army’s youth side as they beat Burnley 7-0 on Wednesday, however he is still waiting for the paperwork that will allow him to play for them competitively.
According to Siya sources Bartlett Jnr has agreed a three-year deal with the club and is now just waiting for his paperwork to come through.
The teenager had been playing for University of Pretoria’s youth team, however impressed at Newcastle during a training spell with them and was ultimately handed a contract in Tyneside.
Bartlett is able to make the move – evading the strict UK permit rules - because of him having been born in Europe and acquiring a British passport during his father’s six-year spell with Charlton Athletic.
