In Portugal, France, England, Belgium, Denmark, Romania and Azerbaijan footballers from all over South Africa are gunning for trophies in their respective leagues as they fly the flag for their home country overseas.

It’s been relatively barren few years for Mzansi’s players abroad with regards to both league and cup success, however, eight trophies are up for grabs amongst seven of them and they will be eager to pick up a medal for themselves and their country.

In Portugal you have Bongani Zungu, who is making waves with Vitoria de Guimaraes, taking aim at the Taca de Portugal final next month where they take on giants, Benfica.

Meanwhile, over in France, Kermit Erasmus is hoping to help RC Lens grab the Ligue 2 title and secure a spot in Ligue 1 next season, with the on-loan Stade Rennais man enjoying his football in the French north.

Close to Erasmus in neighbouring Belgium, you have Andile Jali’s KV Oostende trying to secure the First Division A title, although their chances are minimal against the likes of Anderlecht and Club Brugge.

Over in the English leagues, Kgosi Ntlhe will be eager to try and secure a spot in the promotion playoffs with Stevenage, as they seek promotion into League One for the 2017/18 season.

Dino Ndlovu, South Africa’s top scorer overseas with 12 goals, is in a position to win a league and cup double in Azerbaijan, and his form will be crucial to Qarabag if they are to clinch one, or both of the prizes.

In Denmark, Brondby fan favourite, Lebogang Phiri, continues to impress as the Danish giants aim for their first league title since 2004/05, although they face a tough task as they try to overtake FC Copenhagen.

Last, but not least, is Bafana Bafana international, May Mahlangu, who seems to be finding his feet nicely in Romania and could end the season on a high with Dinamo Bucharest when they play in the cup final on May 20th.

Which South African do you think can win silverware this year?
