Serero Suffers Knock In Dutch Cup

Thulani Serero suffered a knock and had to come of in the first-half as Ajax Amsterdam beat FC Volendam 4-2 after extra-time in the Dutch Cup on Wednesday.

The game was forced to go the distance after regulation time goals from Robert Muhren and Lucas Andersen. It was then a thrilling affiar with Lasse Schone, Danny Hoesen and Lasse Schone scoring for the hosts while Muhren completed his brace.

The South African midfielder, who left for Holland from international duty under a storm after being released early from camp, has looked to secure a regular place in the Ajax starting XI.

With Christian Eriksen moving to Tottenham Hotspur, it looked to be a good chance for the player to do so but the attacking midfielder was dealt a blow with an injury.

According to Ajax's official Twitter account, Serero needed attention after taking a hard knock to the collarbone, and after receiving some attention it was eventually decided that he could not continue and he was replaced by Christian Poulsen in the 40th minute.

Also in Holland, Kamohelo Mokotjo enjoyed success with PEC Zwolle in the Dutch Cup as they beat Fortuna Sittard 2-0. Mokotjo set up a good chance for Gyon Fernandez in the 39th minute but he fired wide. Rochdi Achenteh and Joost Broerse got the goals for the home side.

Elsewhere, May Mahlangu is still on the road to recovery but his club Helsingborg will be missing him as they went down 3-0 at home to Tokelo Rantie's former club Malmo FF.
