South African defender Kgosi Ntlhe played 90 minutes as Peterborough United thrashed Tranmere Rovers 5-0 in their third round FA cup clash. Record signing Britt Assombalonga hit a hat-trick and strike partner Sean Jeffers scored a brace at London Road in this one sided cup tie.
Bournemouth’s record signing, Bafana Bafana striker Tokelo Rantie was an unused substitute in their 2-1 win over Reading at the Madejski Stadium. Lewis Grabban and Matt Ritchie’s goals in the 37th and 41st minutes respectively was enough to end Reading’s nine match unbeaten home run before Adam Le Fondre scored a late consolation goal for the home side.
Bongani Khumalo and Dean Furman both played the full game in Doncaster Rovers 3-0 loss at the Reebok Stadium to Bolton Wanderers. Goals from Joe Mason and Andre Moritz put Wanderers in complete control before a late strike from Neil Danns sealed all three points.
Bafana midfielder Thulani Serero put in a fine performance as Ajax thumped NEC Breda 4-0 at the Amsterdam Arena. A hat-trick by Davy Klaassen and a goal by Bojan Krkic sealed the win for the Dutch giants.
Dino Ndlovu did not play in Maccabi Haifa’s 2-0 win over bottom club Bnei Yehuda. The win puts them in third place on the log with 20 points from 12 games played. A second-half brace from Rayo was enough to seal the three points for the South African’s club.
Darren Keet helped Kortrijk earn a point in their 1-1 draw against 10th placed Sporting Charleroi. Keet conceded a goal with 5 minutes remaining in the first half, before substitute Robert Klaasen levelled matters for Kortrijk in the final few minutes of the game.
