South African-born attacker, Ryan de Vries, has been called up to the New Zealand national team for their friendly against South Korea.
The 23-year-old forward from Cape Town has been playing in New Zealand for most of his career and made the switch to Kiwi giants, Auckland City, in 2013.
De Vries has never been approached by the South African Football Association to represent any of the junior sides but now All Whites, head coach, Anthony Hudson, has given the attacker a call-up.
De Vries impressed during the 2014 Club World Cup, helping Auckland City reach the semi-finals, where they eventually lost 1-0 to San Lorenzo.
Meanwhile, SuperSport United forward Jeremy Brokie was not included in the squad, despite his good form since arriving in the PSL.
