Bafana Bafana striker Tokelo Rantie came off the bench in the 64th minute but he was unable to prevent his side from going down, as Bournemouth were comfortably beaten 2-0 by Wigan Athletic at the DW Stadium. Rantie had to settle for a place on the substitute’s bench as his side conceded an early goal to Uwe Rosler’s men in the fifth minute through Marc-Antoine Fortune. Wigan then made sure of all three points when Elliott Ward’s shot deflected off Ward and over the unlucky Camp. Rantie did have an opportunity to pull a goal back late on but the South African could only fire his effort wide of the target.
Bongani Khumalo played the full 90 minutes while Dean Furman was an unused substitute as Doncaster was edged out 1-0 by Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park. A solitary goal in the last minute of the first-half by lanky striker Rudy Gestede was enough to earn all three points for the home side. The result means Doncaster remain in the bottom three and have picked up just two points from 27 on the road.
