Pitso: I Did Not Even Go To My House!

Pitso Mosimane has been so focused on beating Mamelodi Sundowns in the CAF Champions League second leg, that he hasn’t even gone to his house since landing in South Africa on Tuesday.

Mosimane’s Al Ahly side holds an advantage over his former club after their 2-0 first leg victory in Cairo last Saturday.

Now, having made his return to the country for just the second time since taking up the reins at the Egyptian giants in October 2020, Mosimane is determined to walk away victorious in hopes of leading his side to yet another Champions League final.

Speaking to Al Ahly’s official website in the build up to the match, Mosimane has opened up on the tricky second leg encounter, while revealing why he hasn’t been to his home, despite being in the country.

“I feel good as I am at home, but in a different zone. I did not even go to my house, as this my job and I am fully focused on the team,” Mosimane told Ahly’s media department.

“Facing Sundowns has always been difficult, and we have to respect that. The first time Al Ahly have been here while I was coaching Sundowns, Al Ahly lost. Also, the last time Al Ahly have been here, the team got a draw, so we never know what is going to happen, but I hope that we can win here in the next game.”

In addition, Mosimane has warned his players against complacency when they take on the Brazilians at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday, adding that the match is at half time and that anything can happen against the 2016 Champions.

“If anyone asked me before the first leg, would you take 1-0 or 2-0 victory against Sundowns, I will say yes, so I am happy with the result we got. Winning the first leg is very important, but it does not secure our qualification, as nothing is guaranteed in football.

“I spoke with the players and congratulated them after the game in Cairo. It is important to praise the good results, but I also told them that this is like the half time and we are leading 2-0 and it just gives us a slight advantage,” he added.

Kick off for the match is at 15:00.
