Al Ahly head coach Pitso Mosimane set a new CAF Champions League record after his charges defeated Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday night.
The Red Devils made it back-to-back Champions League titles with a 3-0 win over Kaizer Chiefs, who had Happy Mashiane sent off in the first half.
In doing so, the former Mamelodi Sundowns tactician becomes the first African manager to win the competition three times.
Mosimane reveals they were able to predict Chiefs' approach thanks to their analysts but also praised Gavin Hunt, who parted ways with the club before the semi-finals.
“Everything Baxter did, we predicted. We were able to follow Kaizer Chiefs through the team of analysts inside the club, and we were able to play in the usual way for us," Mosimane said after the game, as per KingFut.
“I respect Kaizer Chiefs. I respect Gavin Hunt who led the team to the semi-finals because he doesn’t get the praise he deserves and I praise Baxter for leading the team into the final.
“I played against a team that I supported when I was young, which is Kaizer Chiefs. I was raised near the club and I have great respect for the club, and no club qualifies for the Champions League final easily."
