Pitso’s Controversial Comments Land Him In Trouble With Al Ahly?

News coming out of Egypt is that Pitso Mosimane’s outspoken nature over his ongoing contract negotiations has angered the Al Ahly hierarchy.

Mosimane is known to shoot from the hip. Especially when it comes to pressing matters, like that of his contract with the Egyptian club, which ends in December this year.

Negotiations between Mosimane’s camp and the Red Eagles have been ongoing since last year where Mosimane addressed the proverbial elephant in the room in a post-match press conference.

“Regarding my contract with Al Ahly, I am not sure where we are at, we negotiated before the CAF Champions League finale against Kaizer Chiefs, before the Super Cup against Raja Casablanca, and we are negotiating now ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup,” Pitso told the Egyptian media.

“Until this moment, we haven’t reached an agreement, there is no disagreement about the salary, but there are some issues regarding other points in the contract. I want to continue working with Al Ahly, the club knows that, but we haven’t reached an agreement yet, and I hope we do before the Club World Cup.

“The negotiations are between my agent and Amir Tawfik, the delay is not my choice or Al Ahly’s choice, but it’s not good that it’s taking a lot of time. I want to stay focused on my work, I’d like stability in my work environment, and I need to know what my future looks like before the Club World Cup.

“I am a professional, I am committed to my contract with Al Ahly, the club started negotiating a new contract with me, but while we haven’t reached an agreement, I am calm and focused,” he said.

According to Egyptian website KingFut, Mosimane’s comments appear to have upset the Al Ahly board headed by trigger-happy Mahmoud El Khatib.

According to the website, Al Ahly feel that Mosimane is putting pressure on the club to make a decision on his contract despite the stance to only decide after the FIFA Club World Cup in February.

Last year, El Khatib told the media that there are plans to extend Mosimane’s contract after he managed to achieve success with Ahly in a short space of time, although it appears that the club is resolute on only deciding his future after the tournament in Qatar.
