It was a special evening for the 56-year-old, who won his second CAF Champions League, becoming the first non-Egyptian African coach to lift it with Al Ahly.

He’s also only the third coach to lift the CAF Champions League title with two clubs after Mahmoud El Gohary and Oscar Fullone.

Thanks to Mosimane’s excellent achievement, the Red Eagles managed to break Los Blancos’ record after qualifying for the FIFA Club World Cup for the sixth time.

The 2-1 victory over Zamalek on Friday night’s victory sends Ahly to the competition for the sixth time in history, while Zinedine Zidane’s Real Madrid have appeared in the competition on five occasions.

Al Ahly though are currently in second place to Auckland City FC, who have qualified for the competition on an incredible nine occasions.

In addition, Friday’s victory saw Jingles' side become the African team with the most appearances in the FIFA Club World Cup.

There was no rest for Mosimane’s champions however, as they returned to training on Sunday in preparation for the Egyptian Cup semi-final match against Al Ittihad of Alexandria.

The match is scheduled for December 1.
