Pitso Mosimane’s preparations for the CAF Champions League final have not been without its hiccups. However, it appears his counterparts Zamalek have encountered some issues of their own ahead Friday’s spectacle.
The Siya crew revealed that Mosimane suffered a COVID-19 setback after three of his Al Ahly players tested positive, practically ruling them out of Friday’s match.
Now, AS English have reported that Zamalek, who like Mosimane’s Al Ahly have gone into a closed camp have also had three players who tested positive for COVID-19.
Abdallah Gom'aa, Youssef Obama, and Mahmoud Hamdy El-Wensh had undergone Coronavirus tests which returned positive.
While for Mosimane, Walid Soliman, Saleh Gom'aa as well as key midfielder Aleo Diang are the absentees for the match.
Mosimane will be hoping to add a second gong to his name and repeat the feats that he accomplished with Mamelodi Sundowns in 2016 as they beat the Egyptians 3-1 on aggregate to lift the CAF Champions League trophy.
The match is also a historic event for both teams as it is the first time in history that the CAF Champions League final is contested between two teams from the same country.
