However, despite receiving all the plaudits for delivering Al Ahly their first Champions League trophy in seven years, ‘Jingles’ has attributed his achievement to the club where he spent eight successful years.
“Masandawana. We call them Masandawana, we have a lot of history together, eight years, lots of trophies together, lots of songs, lots of banners and flags. They are special to me those ones. I am here because of them. If it was not for Mamelodi Sundowns I would not be here, so I’m thankful to the supporters and thankful to the team. I’m thankful to the president of Mamelodi Sundowns, he gave me the opportunity to be here, but I also worked hard for it, I’ve earned it, it was not a free passage,” Mosimane told CAF Media in an interview.
“You would not be here if you don’t defeat Zamalek in a cup final, you would not be here if you don’t beat Ahly 5-0, so I’ve also done my work to be here so, I’m humbled, I’m happy to be Ahly coach. It’s a special club, it’s a big club,” Mosimane explained.
