Reports coming out of Egypt suggest that Pitso Mosimane has agreed a deal to bring a R17m-rated former Mamelodi Sundowns player to Al Ahly.
According to Egyptian publication El Ahly.com, Al Ahly have a verbal agreement with Simba SC over the transfer of star midfielder Luís Miquissone, with the Tanzanian outfit slapping a €1m (±R17.3m) on their star player, who as reported by the Siya crew, was a target of Kaizer Chiefs.
The publication revealed that the player’s personal terms will be discussed with his representatives in the coming days.
The Siya crew reached out to the player’s South African representative Thato Matuka, although he was not available for comment at the time of publishing.
Miquissone,26, has been a long-term target of the back-to-back CAF Champions League winners and was a thorn in Ahly’s flesh in the group stages of the competition, scoring the only goal of the match that saw Mosimane’s side suffer their only defeat of their continental campaign.
Of course, the Mozambique international is no stranger to Mosimane.
The player formed part of the 56-year-old’s Sundowns squad back in 2018, although he was never really given a chance under Mosimane and was sent out on loan to Chippa United, Royal Eagles and UD Songo respectively, before eventually parting ways with the Brazilians in January 2020.
Miquissone has been a hit in Tanzania, where he managed to scire three goals and provide three assists for coach Didier Gomes’ side, who managed to reach the quarter-final of the CAF Champions League, where they were eliminated by eventual runners-up Kaizer Chiefs.
