Mahlambi Breaks Silence On Ahly Future
Phakamani Mahlambi was linked with a loan exit from Al Ahly earlier this year, but one goal and three assists later he’s opened up about his future with the Egyptian giants.
The 20-year-old Bafana Bafana international has played 12 league games for Ahly during his debut season, getting five assists in total, and was given a place in the starting berth in their last two games – against ENPPI and Tanta.
Now, having won a league and cup double in his first season at the club, Mahlambi says that he worked hard to prove himself, and is now enjoying the fruits of his labour.
Speaking to the club’s official website, the talented youngster said, “I am happy to feature against Tanta because this means I am clearly in the technical staff’s interests… I put in a lot of effort in training and the matches to prove myself. The coach is always talking to me and is seriously seeking to guide me to reach my best.
“Hossam El-Badry (Ahly's head coach) told me more than once that he is insisting on developing my performances to benefit from my abilities. Recently I joined the national team as an Al Ahly player and I seek to represent the team in the upcoming period to prove my abilities.
“I have no intention of leaving Al Ahly. I enjoy playing at Africa’s biggest club and I am happy to be with my teammates and the fans.”
Mahlambi will be hoping to have also done enough to earn a place in Ahly’s CAF Champions League squad for the group stages of the tournament.
