Percy Tau’s value in millions has rocketed since leaving South Africa and Soccer Laduma compares his figures to some of Europe’s elite.
Tau’s dreams of playing in the UEFA Champions League came to life last night at the Santiago Bernabeu, where his Club Brugge side gave the 13-time UCL winners, a run for their money.
Brugge and Real Madrid played to a 2-2 draw at the Bernabeu, with Zinedine Zidane’s side having to come back from a 2-0 deficit in the first half.
Tau grabbed himself an assist on the night, coming up against some of Europe’s most expensive defenders.
And while a club of Real Madrid’s monumental calibre cannot be compared to most clubs in Europe, in light of last night’s performance, Soccer Laduma takes a look at how Tau’s market value ranks compared to the four Los Blancos attacking players on the evening.
According to the figures on transfermarkt.com, Tau’s (25) current market value is at €6 million (±R100.8 million), having increased greatly from his time with Union Royale Union Saint Gilloise in Belgium’s second tier.
Eden Hazard, Karim Benzema, Lucas Vázquez and substitute, Vinícius Júnior were all used on the night and here are their value in millions according to transfermarkt.com.
Hazard (28): €150 million (±R2.5 billion)
Benzema (31): €40 million (±R672 million)
Lucas Vazque (28): €25 million (±R420 million)
Vinicius Junior (19): €70 million (±R1 billion)
Although the comparison with these players and Tau are no match, should the player land up plying his trade for a club in one of Europe’s top leagues, his market value will continue to increase.
