The Al Ahly medical team has given an update on when star signing Percy Tau is expected to return to action following his high-profile move to the Red Eagles.
Tau sustained a muscle injury earlier this month while doing duty for Bafana Bafana in their 2022 World Cup qualifiers against Ghana. At the time, the Siya crew reported that the 27-year-old would be out of action for around three weeks.
Now, Al Ahly head doctor Abu Abla has given an update on when Tau, who has been selected as part of coach Hugo Broos’ 34-man preliminary squad, is expected to make his return to action.
"Percy Tau started his rehab and he will join the team's full training in the coming two weeks," Abla told Egyptian television.
"The player sustained a muscle injury during the match with South Africa on 2 September and the South African doctor told him it was a minor problem and that he could continue playing," he said.
Tau will be one of the notable absentees for coach Pitso Mosimane in his side’s Egyptian Super Cup clash against Tala’ea El Gaish this evening, although fellow newcomer Luis Miquissone could make his debut for the club, after receiving permission from the Egyptian FA to be registered for the clash.
