A hat-trick from Nick Ajose saw Kgosietsile Ntlhe’s side Peterborough United come from behind to beat Notts County 4-3 in a highly thrilling League One clash at the London Road Stadium on Tuesday night.
It was a highly entertaining affair that produced seven goals and one red card, but sadly Ntlhe only played 45 minutes of the encounter and was substituted immediately after half time.
It was a blistering start to the game which saw Enoch Showunmi give Notts County the lead after only three minutes, 1-0.
Things got even worse for Peterborough four minutes later when Ronan Murray doubled Notts County’s lead, 2-0.
Things started to turn around for Peterborough, though, in the 16th minute when Notts County were reduced to ten men when Murray was shown a straight red card for violent conduct.
Peterborough started to mount their comeback and Ajose pulled a goal back on the half hour mark with a left foot finish, 2-1.
In the 54th minute Britt Assombalonga drew Peterborough level after heading home a right wing cross, 2-2.
Ajose then sent Peterborough in front in the 74th minute, 3-2, but their joy was short lived as Jack Grealish restored parity for Notts County two minutes later, 3-3.
Peterborough, however, had the last say as Ajose completed his hat-trick with five minutes to play to give his side the win, 4-3.
The result sees Ntlhe’s side up to fifth on the league table on 45 points, three points adrift of fourth placed Preston North End.
