Bafana Prospect Pens EPL Contract
Bafana Bafana future prospect, Nikola Tavares, has secured his immediate future with Crystal Palace by signing a new contract with the club.
The 19-year-old defender has reportedly indicated to Bafana head coach, Stuart Baxter, that he has an interest in representing South Africa at a national level, despite the fact that he has spent much of his life in England.
Tavares, who has played for Croatia at youth level, joined the Eagles last year after an impressive spell with Brentford, and it appears that Roy Hodgson’s side is keen to see what he can bring to the squad after stepping up into the U23s.
Having just recovered from a long-term injury, the young defender - who recently met up with Baxter in England - will now be eager to make his mark at Palace next season as he tries to work his way through the ranks at Selhurst Park, and will be eager for Baxter to keep an eye on his progress.
Siya sources have suggested that the teenager recently penned a deal that will secure his immediate future at Palace, with the youngster remaining one of the few South African players currently plying their trade in the United Kingdom.
