Pitso Mosimane’s management team has set the record straight amid reports that the coach has signed a new contract in Qatar.
MT Sports Marketing and Management has refuted the claim but did confirm that the agency has received several enquires from teams, locally and internationally, eager to secure the services of Mosimane and his technical team of fitness guru Kabelo Rangoaga and performance analysts Musi Matlaba and Kyle Solomon.
The South African coach announced his departure as head coach of Al Ahly on Monday, ending a relationship of nearly two years that produced five major trophies, including back-to-back CAF Champions League titles.
A few hours after his Ahly exit, reports emerged that he is heading to Qatar to coach a ‘top team’ in Qatar Stars League.
On Tuesday, MT Sports Marketing and Management released a statement that reads as follows:
“It has been bought to our attention that there are rumours around coach Pitso Mosimane being in Qatar insinuating that he has signed a deal with a new team.
“Coach Pitso and his technical team have not signed with a new team. The coaches will be heading back to South Africa in due course.
“Since parting ways with the former club, we have received a number of enquires from various teams internationally and locally, including national teams. We have not committed the coaches to any teams as yet.
“Should there be any new developments regarding this matter, MT Sports Marketing and Management will make an official announcement.”
