The 22-year-old attacker played 33 games – getting five goals and four assists – over the course of the 2018/19 season while on loan from Djurgardens in Sweden, playing a big role for Farense as he secured a regular place in their starting XI.
It has now been confirmed that the Portuguese Segunda Liga side have exercised their option to sign Mayambela on a permanent basis.
Prince Arnold Hanson, of DERs Group, told the Siya crew, “Mihlali is showing to be a star already, the next big thing in my opinion... The people of Faro fell in love with the little magician very quickly, and they wanted more of him - they now have it.
“The boy has signed a three-year contract and is buzzing to start the new season already. He attracted a lot of offers from Europe – Alaves in Spain, as well as Santa Clara and Penafiel in Portugal, showed interest. That’s a sign of greatness, but we are now focused on the current challenge.”
Mayambela has signed a three-year deal with Farense after his move was made permanent, and will be eager to try and help his side form a title push in 2019/20.
