Mahlambi Stays! Sundowns Miss Out

By Soccer Laduma - Jul 31, 2018 10:26 PM
Phakamani Mahlambi has been registered by Al Ahly for the 2018/19 season, and will fight it out for his place in the side despite Mamelodi Sundowns having pushed for his signature.
The Siya crew recently reported that Masandawana were eager to try and bring Mahlambi back to the Absa Premiership this season, even on a permanent deal, although the chances of that now happening appear to have been dashed.
With a long-term injury to Junior Ajayi having ruled him out for around four months, Patrice Carteron has turned to ‘Phaka’ as one of his attacking options for the new season, something that could give the talented Bafana Bafana international the perfect platform to showcase his abilities.
The crew spoke to Glyn Binkin, the player’s agent, who confirmed from Egypt that the African giants saw a place for the youngster going forward, and that he is in Carteron’s plans for the season.
Binkin said, “Having spent the day in Cairo with Phakamani at the club as his situation has evolved over the past 24 hours, he now finds himself back in the Ahly squad and fighting for his place in the team.
“Ahly is the biggest club in Africa and with it comes a team full of quality players. Phakamani realizes that, and understands that he needs to continue to work hard and grab his chance when given the opportunity. The club has a fantastic new coach who believes in the player, and under whose guidance I am sure Phakamani will flourish.”
Ahly face Ismaily on Thursday in their first game of the season, and Mahlambi will be hoping to do enough over the next couple of days to secure his place in the squad for the campaign opener.

Last I read here someone said Bobby will faint after dunu were said to be after Mahlambi. Let the boy play for a big team that will never prevent him an opportunity to play over seas. Dunu would hv slump a heavy buy out clause over his head. All the best PK

thank god it was going to be a step back, even though i believe Sundowns does offer a platform for players to go oversea the fact that they get too clingy makes their whole brand lose respect, imagine if Tau,Zungu ad dolly went without any contractual wars we would all be praising Pitso for the platform but instead we calling them names mamelodi prison break
