Ex-Bucs Starlet Steps Up With Fabregas & Co.
Former Orlando Pirates youngster, Lyle Foster, has been given the chance to make his mark with Monaco as he goes through pre-season training with the French giants’ first team.
The young forward, who joined Monaco at the start of the season, started his career in Europe with the club’s reserve side as he got acquainted to his new life outside of South Africa, but now – with Falcao at the Copa America – he’s got a chance to show Leonardo Jardim that he’s ready for the big leagues.
Foster did make the bench for a Ligue 1 game last season, and he will be eager to take things a step further in 2019/20 after being the chance to train alongside the likes of Cesc Fabregas in the build-up to the new campaign.
Speaking to Soccer Laduma recently about the 18-year-old, Fabregas urged him to take his chance before the new season, saying, “Now we’re starting pre-season on July 1, there you have your chance. For example, Falcao is going to the Copa America, so he will not be there… You have your chance, so take it. Show the coach what you can do while you have one full month to prove yourself, and that’s what I think.”
The attacker now has the chance to do just that, and he will be working hard to leave a mark on Jardim and his technical team – possibly even in this evening’s friendly against Cercle Brugge at 19h00.
