Belgian club, Lokeren, have exercised their one-year option on Ayanda Patosi, however he could still leave the club at the end of the season.
The 23-year-old has been in great form in Belgium in 2015/16, directly contributing to 13 goals in 27 games so far, and with his contract set to expire at the end of the campaign it comes as no surprise that Lokeren wanted to extend his stay.
However, the extension of his contract may not mean that the Bafana Bafana international will remain at the club, with the player stating that his extended stay does mean that they can sell him for a fee rather than lose him for nothing.
Speaking to the Siya crew after he confirmed the extension, Patosi said, “I have a good relationship with my club, and I’ve spoken to the President and Director about my current situation. I’ve been at the club for a long time now and I'm grateful they understand me very well. It's a good thing for the club to exercise my option because they can earn something from me if I make a transfer.
“Remember, this is my first club. The club that gave me the opportunity to play at a professional level, they are a great club with a very good president, a coach that understands me very well, and we all get along. The players are supportive and the fans have loved me here since day one. Let's see what comes in the summer transfer window.”
It is thought that Patosi could well be on the move in the upcoming transfer window, however it will all depend on whether any interested clubs can match Lokeren’s valuation of him.
